I've only just realised whilst watching this video that the horses are segregated according to colour ... bright bays in one 'team' and dark bays in another. That has to be deliberate?
The changing of the Guard at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the
residence of the President of India in New Delhi. This is the President's Body Guard, the most senior Regiment of the Indian Army.
Men of the President's Bodyguard consists of the old warrior classes of the Rajputs, Sikhs and the Jat.
Lovely but quite sedate compared to our cavalrymen’s displays. Definitely deliberate segregating the horses.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, its quite sedate but it was nice to watch as it was tagged onto the changing of the guard ceremony so a little bit of everything.
ReplyDeleteThese guys form the most senior unit in the Indian army. They ride horses for ceremonies at the presidential palace and use BTR-80s (armoured personnel carriers) for use in combat. They are also trained as paratroopers so they're an elite group.
Carrying those lances for 30 mins must be very tiring though.
